Hose Assembly Identification
When working with fluid systems and aircraft maintenance, do not overlook the critical nature of hose assemblies. In addition to being integral components of several systems, they have their own specifications and require special attention.
When replacing a hose assembly, identify it properly so that the correct replacement can be made.
Some rubber hoses have a line printed on the cover. Hose assemblies with a stainless steel outer braid are identified with a white tape.
Typically identification line on the hose cover is generally repeated every nine or ten inches along the length of the hose and will usually provide the following information:
- Mil-Spec Number
- Manufacturer
- Part number assigned to style of hose
- The dash number, or code letter for size
- Hose manufacturer’s code
- The date of manufacturing
